Solana, the Photosynthesis Dragon

$200.00

Solana kept her eyes closed, refusing to wake up. She knew eventually she would have to, but not yet. Just a few more minutes. She wasn’t ready to rely on energy she knew she didn’t have. It had been cloudy this week, a monotonous gray everywhere she looked, but without a drop of rain and certainly no sunshine. And yesterday had just enveloped her in shadow. So, as payback, the world could wait. Just a few more minutes.

Soon after her inner monologue quieted, having accepted her protest, she felt the clouds part overhead. She sprang up, eyes suddenly wide, as she felt the warm sunlight pour over her scales. Yes…finally! She stretched, yawning, her tail curling just over her head, breathing deeply in a salutation to spring. A gentle wisp of wind brought the scent of the morning to her nostrils and she shook off last night’s dew, watching the drops sparkle in a beautiful prism. Today, she thought, sitting up, today will be nothing like yesterday.
